How to track safely

  • Log weekly or monthly, not daily - day-to-day numbers fluctuate and the trend matters more.
  • Measure consistently (same time of day, similar conditions).
  • BMI is a screening measure, not a diagnosis, and it does not measure body fat directly. See BMI limitations.
  • For personal health questions, talk with a qualified healthcare provider.

Template FAQ

How do I use the BMI progress template?

Download the CSV and open it in any spreadsheet app, or print the worksheet. Add a row each week or month with the date, your weight, height, BMI, category, optional waist measurement, and a note. Tracking the trend over time is more useful than any single reading.

Should I track every day?

Daily weight and BMI naturally fluctuate with hydration, food, and time of day, so daily numbers can be noisy and discouraging. Weekly or monthly entries usually show a clearer, calmer trend. Try not to read too much into a single day.

Is the template private?

Yes. The CSV and worksheet are just blank files you keep yourself - nothing is sent to us. If you would rather log entries in your browser with an automatic chart, use the interactive BMI tracker.
